How “Likes” rule the world. Or are we all “victims” of Social Media and lost somewhere online?

Social Media Revolution 2012

“We don´t have a choice on whether we DO social media, the question is how well we DO it.”

(Erik Qualmen)

A few days ago I read this quote while watching a video about fascinating facts on Social Media.

After letting the information sink in I started thinking about my own appearance on planet Social Media. And that was quite scared…

There are 2.7 billion likes on facebook per day. How many are done by me? At least I do not belong to 1/3 of all women aged 18-34 who check Facebook when they first wake up, even before going to the bathroom. Another fact about facebook that caught my eye was the number of 250 million. That´s the amount of photos uploaded per day. And 59 % of companies are attracting employees using facebook, right after LinkedIn (95 %). So keep on watching your social media appearance…

Besides Facebook we also find enough time to communicate via Twitter. There are 175 Million tweets on a busy day. And Twitter gets 1 Million new accountse per day…11 accounts are created every second. Wow, where do all those people come from?

The current TPS (Tweets per second) record is 6,939 tweets per second set 4 seconds after midnight in Japan on New Year’s Day.

From a business view, the internet and especially social media is amazing.

By the end of 2012 1.5 billion people will be users of social networks and visit sites at least once per month. So reach via the intern is huge and unbeatable. 90 % of all people rather trust peer recommendations instead of advertising.

And so do I, every day you get information on new things you can buy. People are posting comments about it on facebook and tweet experiences. Is there a better way to get honest opinions? What do you think?

350 million user suffer from “Facebook Addiction Syndrome”… I´ve to admit, I´m addicted, are you too?

Don´t get lost while visiting planet Social media!

Cheers
